Mk 4 2.0 DTI Astra Power boost

Does anyone know the best way to get a bit more power from my Astra without spending a fortune?? The turbo is non-existent and I've been told it's more for economy than power but thats no good to me!! blankstare

It's working cos you can hear it whistling and I had problems with the air pipe slipping off when you put the boot down too much, got that wee problem sorted but still seems like power is low.

yea sure can, what you need to do is remove the airbox from the car and open it inside, you will find 2 pipes at the entrance and exit of the box and as you look at them you will see they get smaller at the ends of each pipe and that is what is restricting the air flow, you need to pull them out. The pipe on the top is very easy to get out it just needs a bit of play but the pipe on the bottom is a complete nightmare there are 2 clip like buttons things that you need to push in which are very hard to move plus push and twist at the same time!! Once you get that bottom one off you will be left with a hole where the pipe used to clip into just get some black tape and tape it up and that is you're airbox derestricted!

To note you may get a slight induction noise don't be alarmed! Try and get you're self a sport airfilter. I totally recemend Courtenays Sport Panel Filter it will help release a little bit more power!

common problem is the vacume pipes going to solinoids under the bonnet they split and crack causeing turbo to muck about and not work at all and to be a bit smokey

Is it really worth trying to tune a 2L dti? The Dti model has 100bhp so should go alrite, Big problems with pumps and injectors tho so if you dont want trouble id leave it as it is!

remap, and de restrict the air box. Theres no real thump off the turbo in them or the 2.2 dti as its a low blow turbo. Your turbo's spins slowly all the way thu the rev range rather than a big bang at 2/2.5k rpm
